Fresh Dorset Ice Cream

Our fresh dorset ice cream

All the ice creams are made using the milk from our own cows. They are custard base ice creams and so contain egg yolk, which is sourced locally and already pasteurised. All the ingredients are natural containing no artificial colourings or preservatives. Only the Coca-Cola Sorbet we make using nearly four litres of coke for every batch for scooping in the summer cannot meet this claim, but hey! It's an occasional slip from tradition and some people like it!

All of the ice creams are gluten free except the Nougat and anything we add biscuit to. Even the Christmas Pudding ice cream is gluten free, so there's no need to miss out on special treats! We even have gluten free cones in the shop!

Using our own milk, it is necessary to pasteurise the ice cream mixture, so that it is taken to 84°C in cooking and then frozen down to -10°C / -12°C. The sorbets are taken up to 73°C.

All the sorbets contain 50% fruit.

Locally Sourced Ingredients

The fruit is sourced locally where possible e.g. the blueberries come from the Dorset Blueberry company just 4 miles away. But even the change in British weather hasn't allowed us to grow bananas or kiwi's yet!

All our ice creams and sorbets have been awarded 'Direct from Dorset' status, except those sorbets made with exotic fruits, even though they are made using our own bore hole water straight from the Dorset chalk land, so totally free of chlorine and flouride.

The raisins for the Rum & Raisin are soaked in the rum the night before. Seasonal ice creams are available, try Cinnamon Ice Cream at Easter and Chestnut & Drambuie at Christmas.

We also have a diabetic range of Vanilla, Chocolate and Hazelnut, so no-one goes without!

There is very little air in our products and so you are buying just solid goodness. Enjoy!
